(Re)burials and rededication services
The identification of casualties of WWII remains a high priority in the Netherlands. Over the years a number of victims buried at the Oosterbeek Airborne Cemetery were identified, Also in the years after the war new casualties are found and interred at the Oosterbeek or Groesbeek war cemetery. All burials up to 2011 are mentioned in the fifth edition of the Roll of Honour (ROH) a final (?) attempt by Geert Maassen and Philip Reinders, together with a team of international researchers to complete, as much as possible, the work of the late Jan Hey.
After the ROH was published a number of war casualties buried "Known unto God' were identified. The Bergings- en Identificatiedienst Koninklijke Landmacht (BIDKL) and individuals like Philip Reinders are putting a lot of effort in tracing and identification of casualties buried in the Netherlands. Every now and then cases are brought foward to the CWGC in an attempt to have a WWII casualty positively identified. Polish researcher Mateusz Mróz has put a lot of effort in recent years to identify and name the Polish casualities. Some times they succeed, some times they don't.
